A virtual journey to the Dove at Hammersmith

Invited to share a drink with The Altered Book Lover. I  decide we should go down to the Thames at Hammersmith. Cutting through the quieter terraces that lead from busy King Street to the river, we take a detour up river along the Mall as far as Chiswick Eyot and back again. The early spring air is sharp but the sun is shining and we are warm enough so long as we walk briskly 

Just before we reach the narrow passage way, which houses our destination, we spot a sign outside the annex of a large Victorian villa and spend half an hour admiring the designs of C19th fabrics at the William Morris Society.

Then, cosy inside the annex of the tiny hostelry, we look out over the pier and watch the muddy river forever flowing to the sea and wonder at all the history it has silently witnessed.

    Sounds like a lovely walk to your destination and how wonderful to enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the Thames - perfect! :-). I have happy memories of exploring Chiswick when we visited The Fuller's Brewery which is based there :-). Happy T Day! J :-)

    Thank you for joining us for T, Bailey. You write with such beauty, each word brings the area to view in my mind, even though I have never been to England, or London. I felt like I actually joined you in that tiny hostelry, watching the muddy river flow toward the sea. It was a perfect first entry for T.     Bailey you make me miss living over seas... we lived in Germany for three years.... some of the best three years of my life.. So glad you could come for T this week... Please excuse my late visit... looong day trying to put the new craftroom to rights. Happy happy T day! Hugs! deb

    Good question about what is T Day. It began in 2010, with another host. She got tired of supplying a linky, so it was hard for us to visit others. Then one day she just quit hosting. No notice, NOTHING. We called it Tuesday Tea back then, but you didn't need to drink tea, although it was preferred.

    An internet friend and I started talking and she thought since the previous host was no longer in the picture, someone should pick up the ball. It took me a week or two to get over my fear of Mr. Linky, but we both agreed that it shou8d be called something other than Tea Stands for Tuesday. So, I decided on "T" stands for Tuesday, so it wasn't imitating the old name, or me trying to muscle in on the previous host's territory.

    The idea was, you didn't have to drink tea. And, you did NOT have to photograph your image(s) on Tuesday. You could take your photo(s) any day of the week, even months earlier. What constitutes a T post is something exactly like you created. Of course, if you are an artist, you can draw a picture of a mug, cup, teabag, teapot, etc. Digital art is acceptable, as are hybrid and traditional.

    If you made the rounds today, you saw how diverse the T posts are. The eclectic nature of these posts make them so special, and I always learn something when I visit the T gang. If it makes you feel better, we were all a bit confused in the beginning, but over the past 3 1/2 years I've hosted, we have gotten used to the idea that T can stand for just about anything you want it to, as long as some form of drink is involved and mentioned. We have people who share fine art with tea or coffee in it, movies with tea or coffee, songs with tea or coffee, and I have been known to show buttermilk, root beer floats, hot chocolate, and egg nog to name a few. It all depends on what you want to share. One player even took us to a tea field in India to show how tea leaves were picked.

    I hope that explains things, clears up a few things, and entices you to join us each Tuesday with a drink of some kind.
